The past few months have
been crazy for us. Our parents told us we were moving, we found a
house in Tennessee that we really liked, put our house on the market
to sell, started to pack and then our parents said "Nope, forget it,
we just can't move!" UGH! But oh well, we love our house and the
water--no complaints here.
However, during all of
these we have been trying to keep moving forward with our project
and have been doing pretty good. Since our trip in Dec. we have
worked slowly on Kids Creating Comfort. With Christmas, birthdays,
our Jamaica trip and school, KCC hasn't been #1. With warmer weather
coming and school wrapping up for the year we have more time for it
again. Seems silly to be working with fleece when it's 75 outside
but we hope if we work really hard most of the summer we will have
the rest of our blankets ready to go when it starts to get cold
again. The kids don't really need the blankets now, but they will
next fall and winter. If we work while it's warm we'll have them
ready when it's cold.
Last weekend we got a very
generous donation from a KCC supporter in Atlanta, Thank you. We
also did a local show called Daffodil Festival. Between the two we
were able to bring our total number of blankets up to 577. We are so
close to being halfway. We are so excited! We are going to
have a few yard sales infront of our dad's office over the next
few months to raise some extra money. Mom says that goes along with
learning to sacrifice. We don't really need all the toys and
clothing we have but someone else might love them. If they do we can
make extra money to make more blankets. Josephine and Logan are
going to bake us some treats to sell, Ryanne is going to make us
lemonade and Ben and Anastasia are going to sell like crazy for us:)
We hope to raise the rest of the needed money to make the last 635
blankets we promised to the Kids of Hurricane Katrina.
Another reason why we want
to get these blankets done is we are seeing so many other places we
could send blankets. Most recently is the tornadoes that tore threw
the mid-west. Our long term goal is to have blankets stored up so we
can send blankets out whenever we hear of a family who lost their
homes. We have promised 1200 blankets to the kids of Hurricane
Katrina and we want to much to reach that goal and surpass it. Your
help is greatly needed!
Thanks for taking the time
to check out our website. If you'd like to drop us a line please do,
we love getting mail. If you'd like to see us reach our goal please
feel free to help us out. You could make a blanket, send a donation
or even just tell all your friends and family about us.
Love,
Kids Creating
Comfort Josephine, Logan, Ben, Ryanne and Anastasia
